I DON'T HAVE VERY MUCH TIME!

HELLO EVERYONE!

Basically everything that happened this week can be said with photos. (A picture IS worth a thousand words.)

PICTURES!
1.) I COMPLETED A YEAR IN THE MISSION!!!! So, we celebrated... All four of us. (we're from the same generation.) XD
2.) My companion decided to burn a shirt... It was fun. XD
3.) EXCHANGES THIS WEEK! I went with Hermana Torres again! She was my Sister Training Leader in San Luis too.
4.) The family we ate with on Saturday had a tiny white bunny! IT'S SO ADORABLE! They called it "toto" for "conejito".
5.) Our little converts dressed fancy for church this sunday! It was adorable!

Also, I accidently lost baptismal clothing on the public transportation and STILL feel horrible about it, but my wonderful Zone Leaders didn't hold it against me because they are awesome.

Anyways, I hope you are all well and that you have an AWESOME week!

OUR GOLDEN INVESTIGATOR GOT BAPTIZED! 11/03/2014

HELLO EVERYONE!
I don't have a lot of time, so I will try to write fast.
This week, of course, was HALLOWEEN! And what did we do for halloween? NOTHING. Not really. We had to go home early, so I FINISHED READING THE BOOK OF MORMON IN SPANISH! I was so excited! (Picture attached.) While I was reading, my companion dressed up in her Nacho Libre mask and attacked me. It was awesome. (picture attached.)
Then, Saturday our golden investigator got baptized! She is literally perfect and it was a privilege to teach her, honestly. (picture attached.)

I'm sorry I don't have a lot of time today! But I will send the pictures and talk more next week! I LOVE YOU!

EDGAR AND CARLOS GOT BAPTIZED!!!!!!!! 10/27/2014

HELLO EVERYONE!!!
I am excited and pleased to announce that the most wonderful niños in the WORLD got baptized this week! (Picture attached.)

Other interesting things that happened this week, is that there is a guy that drives a calafia and now likes to give us free rides. (the calafia normally charges 10 pesos a person... That's almost $1.) It was pretty cool because even though we were really close to our house he was all like, "Hop on!" but in Spanish. I really don't remember what he said, but we got on and he gave us a ride! It was awesome.

Also I tried a CHIMICHANGA for the first time EVER and it was AWESOME. (Picture attached.) The problem is that it was leaking all over my hand. :P

HELLO EVERYONE!!!
I am excited and pleased to announce that the most wonderful niños in the WORLD got baptized this week! (Picture attached.) It was a BEAUTIFUL service and I almost cried.

Also, my companion bought a MEXICO cape AND IT IS AWESOME and she let me try it on. (Pictures attached.)

I am REALLY REALLY HAPPY and feel SUPER BLESSED to have been a part of the baptism of Edgar and Carlos! They are so great!

I HAVE TO GO NOW LES QUIERO MUCHO!!!!!
P.S. Here are some jokes in Spanish for those who speak it (From our lovely converts):

Qué dijo una iguana a otra iguana?
Cómo te llamas tú?
Iguana. Y tú?
Iguanita que tú.

Qué dijo un poste al otro poste?
Póstete bien.

Qué dijo un cable al otro cable?
Somos los intocables.

Por qué la escoba va feliz?
Porque barriendo.

These made me laugh and I hope that they put a smile on your face. XD

....... BAPTISMS!!!!!!!!!!! 10/20/2014

WOOP WOOP! EDGAR AND CARLOS ARE GETTING BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!! (They are the children that we originally thought were going to move but they didn't and now they're ready to be baptized!) I AM SO EXCITED! Then, next week our golden investigator is going to be baptized! WOOP WOOP!

Anyways, my companion and I are going nuts. Why? Because 3 out of 7 days this week we had to walk around for 2-3 hours because our appointments have cancelled on us and we can't find anyone to teach. We're not allowed to knock on doors and when we try to talk to people in the street, they reject us. What is REALLY frustrating is that afterward, our leaders want to planchar us because our numbers are really low, even though WE ARE WORKING OUR BUTTS OFF. But it's cool. We'll just work harder this week so that they can't planchar us. (planchar literally means "to iron" but it's what they say here. The closest translation that we have come up with to explain it to english-speakers is, "chasten" or "chastize", but it's usually with scriptures or quotes from Preach My Gospel. Example: El presidente nos planchó bien feo en la conferencia esta semana pasada.)

I am really sorry that I don't have any new pictures this week. I will have some next week I PROMISE. LES QUIERO MUCHO Y LES HABLARÉ EN UNA SEMANA!

We had transfers and.... WE STAYED EXACTLY THE SAME! I am still with Hermana Rockwood in El Dorado but... Pobrecita she already has three transfers here. XD

I don't have a lot of time nor do I have pictures! (Sorry about that...) This week was relatively uneventful. I am alive and well and our investigators are progressing nicely. We should be having a baptism next week! I am super excited actually... I hope eveyone is well! Keep the faith! (Sorry I don't have much to say, bástame decir que estoy bien. I will try to have more and some pictures next week!)

Cumple-mes, progreso, e INVESTIGADORAS DE ORO 10/6/2014

HELLO MY WONDERFUL FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!

How are you? I am fine. This week was... AWESOME!!!!!!!!

First of all, today is my CUMPLE-MES! (It's like month-aversary or something) I HAVE BEEN ON MY MISSION FOR 11 MONTHS! WHERE DID THE TIME GO!?

Second, during the general conference, there was an elder that had his little baggies of snacks. But they weren't your ordinary snack... they were.... GRASSHOPPERS. So, naturally, I tried some. (Okay, that's a joke. It was actually REALLY REALLY hard to make myself eat them. But I really did do it.) They didn't taste horrible, but it's not my favorite thing in the world. He told me that it's an acquired taste and that he really does like them. I'm going to see if I can take a picture this Tuesday of me eating them so you can all be disgusted. XD

Third, we have some really awesome investigators, and I will tell you why. One of them, is, as my companion calls them, a "cholo". (Druggy, thuggy guy) His name is Hugo. I contacted him a few weeks ago, and even though my companion was scared, I felt like we needed to talk to him. We have taught the first lesson since then and he went to church for the first time yesterday! He said that he liked it and we are going to be visiting him again tomorrow. :) He's actually really nice and funny.
Remember how I told you guys that two of our investigators were moving? THEY DIDN'T MOVE!!!! We found them again and they are awesome (and adorable) as ever! They both went to the first two sessions of conference on Saturday, and the younger one went to all four! We were really impressed. We told him, "Usted es bien fuerte!" But it was really hard for him to pay attention. That was the only problem. haha
Now, about our INVESTIGADORA DE ORO. She was a reference from the Elders from another area. Her boyfriend is a less active member and we started teaching her a little over a week ago. Despite the very little time, she has already read her BoM and is almost finished with 2 Nephi! She's really intelligent and understands everything perfectly! She's really excited for her baptism at the end of this month! She also presented us with her mother and she is also very receptive and excited. They both went to the first Sunday session of conference and loved it! I will keep  you updated on them.
Last, but certainly not least, we have an investigator named Rosa. She is the sister of one of the members of our ward. When we met her she was relatively hard-hearted. She told us, "Soy católica y seguiré siendo católica." (I am catholic and will always be catholic.) but then said, "Vamos a ver lo que pasa." (we will see what happens.) So, we gave her a BoM. And we have been teaching her regularly. It's amazing how, little by little, she has been changing! She reads her asignments from the BoM and even though she says she doesn't understand them, she is now willing to go to church on Sunday. We have a lot of faith that she will soon be baptized! But we can't push her too much.

Fourth, I had a really cool spiritual experience that I forgot to tell you guys about last week. The Sunday before yesterday, when we were in Sacrament meeting, I was thinking about the investigators that didn't show up on time. When they closed the doors for the passing of the sacrament, I thought about all those who would be left outside and wouldn't be able to participate. In that moment, the sacredness of the ordinance hit me and I felt a great peace fill my mind. I suddenly felt as though I had entered the temple. It was so quiet, there weren't even any babies crying and I felt so grateful that we had arrived on time. The Sacrament is an important ordinance that we must partake of weekly. Not only that, but the chapel is a sacred place and has the same importance as any room inside of the temple. We have to treat it as such and have respect every time we enter so that everyone that enters, whether they're new or have time there, can feel the Spirit.

Okay, so that's basically what happened this week... Now... PICTURES!
1.) I found my estética! (Hair salon)
2.) This is what I wrote/drew in my agenda today.

I know, there's not very many. I will try my best to have more next week.

CONFERENCE WEEK!!!!!!! 9/29/2014

WOOHOO!!! GENERAL CONFERENCE THIS WEEK! ARE YOU AS PUMPED AS I AM!?
Probably not. But it's cool.

This week was rather... uneventful. I mean, it had events in it, but they aren't as interesting as the week before. We had ups and downs and.... INTERCAMBIOS! and I had to go REALLY far away! (Not that far.) I had to go to TECATE! (That's where they make the Mexican beer.) and it is REALLY HILLY! I went with Hermana Leon. It's a 1 hour 30 min bus ride (ugh) but we made it on time to go eat! Aaaaand... I saw Hermana Reyna again! That was nice. (I didn't get a picture with her.) The most interesting thing from the exchanges was... our last lesson. It was with a man named Fernando. It was interesting because... he's deaf and speaks in signs. Before my sister me regaña (scolds me) Mexican Sign language is SUPER A LOT different than American Sign Language, ENTONCES it wouldn't have helped me at ALL to learn ASL before the mission. The only thing that is the same, are the letters. So, I could spell stuff out. But I did learn how to sayDiosJehová, and Jesucristo. (The sign for Jesucristo is the same in MSL ans ASL.) I also learned how to saytelevisión and some days of the week. It was quite interesting. Pero, me dio ganas de aprender los dos. (It made me feel like I should learn them both.) I didn't get any pictures with him either, but I have my memories. (I know, they won't last.) Oh, and more interesting... We were trying to teach the Law of Chastity. You all may laugh now.

Anyways, I don't really have much else to say other than PICTURES!!!!!
1.) This past monday after writing to you guys, we went to the Thrifty Ice Cream Parlor. It was DELICIOUS.
2.) Our church building is on a REALLY BIG HILL. You've already seen la vista, now to show you the other side.
3.) Two adorable children that we were teaching BUT THEY MOVED AWAY. We wanted a picture first, so this is what we took.
4.) INTERCAMBIOS! Yes, I did feel like a giant. (What can I say? I always do. Also, this is my new favorite outfit. I feel "responsible sister missionary" when I wear it.)
5.) We went to the birthday party of one Hermano and they gave him bottle of Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Cider... We couldn't help but give in to the temptation. XD (These are the elders in our ward... Elder Cornejo and Elder Covey.)

I LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH! Until next week!

BUENAS TARDES! 9/22/2014

HELLO EVERYONE!

This week was rather interesting. It was the week of Mexican Independence, so we went to the ward party. (To be able to go, we had to find 6 new investigators and 3 baptismal dates, but we did it with a lot of hard work and walking.) We succeeded and had fun! We just had to leave early. (There was also more torture because they had salsa and merengue music playing and I was very sad because I couldn't dance.)

I don't really have a lot to say this week... I will have more in the coming week! I am almost out of time, so... PICTURES!!!!!!!!

PICTURES:
1. Doodle in my agenda for Mexican Independence
2. We found a street sign that reminds me of my mother...
3. It got really hot one night so we slept downstairs. (I chose to sleep on the floor, don't judge my companion.)
4. Some members of my district at the ward party. :D
5. One of the members dressed up all AWESOME. (It made my day.)

I am still alive and I love you all!

QUE MARAVILLOSA SEMANA 9/15/2014

THIS WEEK WAS AWESOME! I HOPE I HAVE TIME TO TELL YOU EVERYTHING!

Okay, FIRST, the investigator, Guillermina, IS AWESOME. Our most recent lesson that we had with her, in her closing prayer she said, "Sé que esta es tu iglesia verdadera. Y me gusta tu libro." (I know that this is your true church and I like your book.) We went out of that lesson SUPER happy! She goes to church, church activities, and is super happy! The only problem is... she is living with her boyfriend. :P So they have to get married before she can get baptized. Please pray that everything goes well with her!

Second, we GOT LOCKED OUT OF THE HOUSE. The keys weren't working, and so our neighbors, two very large and slightly drunk Mexican men, helped us break in. It was pretty epic. (I don't have pictures because my camera was locked inside. Sorry.)

Third: This week, all Mexicans all over the country are celebrating independence, so our neighbors are constantly partying and singing horrible, drunken, karaoke. It's funny and annoying at the same time because it makes it hard to sleep.

Fourth, we had a cool experience yesterday. We were walking with one hermano and he was showing us where one of his friends lives so we can visit her and we passed by a couple sitting outside. When I saw the woman's face, I felt like we had to talk to her, but I decided to wait until we were going to leave again. The hermano got there before me! He started to talk to them and it was awesome because they invited us inside and were telling us that they had been praying to know what they needed to do with their life and they said, "Y Dios nos envió dos angelitos y un angelote!" (God sent us two little angels and one big one!) It was really awesome.

I don't really have a LOT of time, but I have a lot of pictures, so I am going to try to send them fast. (It will probably be more than one e-mail.)

I LOVE YOU ALL DEARLY!

THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF TRAFFIC 9/8/2014

Here in Tijuana it is very hilly, and after riding a bike for 4 months straight, it was really hard to start walking again. My legs were killing me the first three days!

Umm.... what happened this week? Well, my camera died, so I don't have any pictures to send you. (Sorry, I will be buying batteries today.)

Um... We taught people, got rejected, and taught some more. We went to a baptism that the Elders were having. (that was cool) Um... we met an investigator named Guillermina. She's young and really REALLY in need of the Gospel. She even went to church on Sunday! :D

I'm sorry I don't have very much to say. I'm doing well, I haven't died, and I'm teaching the gospel. I get along really well with my companion. ... I'm really not sure what else to say. I love you all very much and I will try to write more next week.

BYEEE!!!♥

The Road to El Dorado...9/01/2014

HOLA FAMILIA Y AMIGOS!
This week we had.... TRANSFERS!!!!!
And.... I am no longer in San Luis! I am now in... TIJUANA! Florido Stake, El Dorado ward. (Hence today's title.) My companion is... Hermana Rockwood! But wait a minute... that's not a Spanish last name! What craziness is this!? My companion is from... UTAH. That's right! Two American sisters here in Mexico. What ever will we do!? Pues, enseñar! Haha Yep! Actually, we arrived together from the MTC. :D

This week, my last week with Hermana Bautista, we taught investigators and did stuff. Honestly, I don't remember things very well under pressure ("Pressin down on me, pressin down on you...") but I will try.
On Thursday we ate... SUSHI! The family that was going to feed us had to go to Tijuana early in the morning, so they gave us money to buy food. we decided that Sushi was a good idea. XD (It was actually really good!) Not only that, but we didn't have to pay. A man came and asked us, "Is it alright if i pay for your food? I just feel like I should." and we were like "Okay!" and he paid. It was really cool. XD

What else?.... honestly I don't remember very well.
PICTURES!
1) Me and my companion yesterday.
2) SUSHI!
3) Tamales de afuera (I thought you would like to know what a tamale looks like. There are some people that don't know. On the outside it's corn husk, on the inside PURE DELICIOUS. I still don't know how to make them, but I will learn and let you know.)
4) Tamales de adentro (The orangey one had meat and stuff and the yellowy one was sweet with corn. they were both delicious.)
5) Me and my new companion!

I will have more about Florido in the coming week. Que tengan una buenísima semana!

English be difícil 8/25/2014

HELLO EVERYONE! How are you? I am fine.
This week, I had an experience that made me realize that returning home in 8 1/2 months isn't going to be very easy. Why? ENGLISH. The other day, we had exchanges and I went with another sister from the US. In the beginning, we only spoke Spanish, afterward, Spanglish, and then broken English. Really broken. How broken, you ask? I was telling her a story and I was trying to tell her "she didn't go", but in Spanish it would be "ella no fue", so my messed up brain translated it into, "she no went". You all have my permission to laugh. (We pretty much died laughing at that one.) My English in writing is normal only because I have more time to think about what I want to say.
Sometimes it still shocks me that I speak Spanish. Honestly.
Other things that happened this week... um... OH! We had an awesome ward activity! I already told you a little bit but I would rather not reveal it because I'm going to tell the missionaries when I get back so that they do it and I don't want to ruin it for you. Haha.

What else...?
Um... El Presidente is going to come to do interviews this week... I'm not worried. I actually really like interviews with El Presidente. (Usually. This will be the first one with Presidente García.) I'll let you know how that goes.

PICTURES!
1.) Awesome picture of me riding off into the not-yet-setting sun.
2.) We learned how to make flour tortillas! Apparently, we're in the part of Mexico where they have the best flour tortillas. (Pay no attention to my giant pajamas.)
3.) Apparently, there's a saying here in Mexico that if it inflates, the woman that makes it is really for marriage... Me falta 9 meses, gracias.
4.) The day of the activity it rained really hard and it was actually cold enough for a sweater!
5.) INTERCAMBIOS! (With Hna Loveland. This was at the end of the day.)

Well, I don't have a lot of time left. I hope you're enjoying my adventures in Mexico. :)

LES QUIERO MUCHO!!!!

11/18/2014:D :D :D

Sorry for not having a normal title. I couldn't think of anything to say. XD

This week was... normal. Kind of. Our mission president came for a conference and I got a wonderful package and letters from friends. And an elder got hit by a car. Kind of. He's okay, but he broke his hand and had to have surgery. If you could all keep him in your prayers his name is Elder Molina.

This week we are going to have a really cool ward activity that's called "Viaje a Hawaii". It's going to be awesome. I'll tell you more about it afterward when we're had success. There's something that I really like that they say here, "las actividades son para los investigadores y menos activos, los miembros solo están invitados." Ward activities are for investigators and less active members. The active members are the ones invited... This means... when you go to a ward activity, BRING A FRIEND! And introduce them to the missionaries!

I only have a few pictures to send you, so here they are:
1.) My "amiguita" Dayann (Diane).
2.) My companion bought me a piece of cake! (It's coconut!)
3.) Me and my companion! (A member of the ward made me a dress! I just had to buy the fabric!)
4:) My package!

I LOVE YOU ALL!
