03/24/2014

Hola, buenas tardes! Yo soy Hermana Beaumont, y estoy aquí con mi compañera, Hermana Espinoza. :)

And we are doing pretty darn great, if I do say so myself. (And I do say so.)

This week was good, I believe, despite the fact that I have been sick all week. We were unable to work for two whole days (which is a lot for a missionary. Ask your local Elder.) but I´m okay now. We had to go to Tijuana to have tests done (blood, urine...) and right now I´m not allowed to ingest any of the following: (And I don´t know when I will be able to eat them again as we have not received any further instructions.) Eggs, meat other than chicken, beans, chocolate, milk, greasy foods, chile (as in spicy foods), uncooked vegetables... Basically all of the good things in life. But that´s okay! Because I am going to be healthy again. :)

ANYWAYS, I´m not entirely sure what more to tell you guys... This week went better, as far as the Work is concerned. We have more investigators and have taught more lessons than we have in the last two weeks, even with two days without work, so that´s good.

It seems that this computer is being really slow with documents and whatnot, so I will only be able to send one picture. This is me and my companion, Hermana Espinoza. She´s pretty dang awesome. :)

That´s all for now! I love you all and I will write again next week!

HOLA HOLA HOLA!

Today, WE HAD TRANSFERS! :O My first transfers of the mission! And mi nueva compañera es.... *drum roll*... Hermana Espinoza! She is from Ecuador! And I don't have any pictures with her yet, but I will next week. (Patience is a virtue.) She has been on her mission for 11 months already. So she'll be completing a year with me. :) (She speaks very little English, unlike Hna. Maldonado. This is going to be an interesting transfer.)

This past week was rather uneventful. I am alive and well, but we have no investigators. (Almost. Really it's that none of them have a baptismal date, but we're going to fix that this week.) Something really good is that Hna. Espinoza likes to contact, and has no shame with talking to people. So, hopefully some of that will rub off on me. :P I really hope so.

Um.... I have no clue where Hna. Maldonado went for her next area (I'm still in Rosarito) but I should find out tomorrow. And I'll let you know next week. :)
OOH! Of the pictures I'm going to send: One is of me, Hna. Maldonado, Hna. Price, and Hna. Conde (She went home today! Okay, she's really not going until tomorrow, but she's done with her mission. WOW.) at the beach! Not really. We were with a couple of non-Spanish-speakers and they fed us dinner. :) Their house is GORGEOUS and has a beautiful view of the ocean! Also, there was a walkway, and we got to walk and see the ocean. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. (There's a picture of that too.) (Sorry for those of you that can't see the pictures... I'll be posting them on Facebook in 14 months. ;P )

Um... What else? There are cars that go around playing recordings of advertisements and one of them is very easily stuck in my head. "El panadero con el pan, EL PANADERO CON EL PAN..." IT'S VERY ANNOYING. But it happens to everyone here.

I think that's all for the week. LES QUIERO MUCHO! Talk to you in a week!

1. A member of the other ward that shares our building asked me if I´m from Argentina... Awkward. Not just that, but just now I was talking with the guy that´s working here at the internet place and he thought that I was from South America. Yeah.
2. I HAVE BEEN ON MY MISSION FOR 4 MONTHS. WHAT!?
3. Transfers next week! Kind of freaking out.
4. Sad note: We´ve lost all of our investigators with a baptismal date. No one ever comes to church! URGH.

I don´t have any more time because THE COMPUTER WASN´T WORKING AND SO I WASTED LIKE 40 MINUTES WAITING. But it´s okay. I will survive. I will have to send you guys my pictures next week. And I will never come here again to write to you guys. There´s a better one in town.

Love you guys!

I GET A LITTLE EXTRA TIME! So I´m going to send pictures! :D (I´m at a different internet place.)

1.) The awesome scripture case I bought! (It was a little less than $10... Impressive, right? It has the Tijuana Temple on it.)
2.) Some bookmarks and a keychain that I bought at the same time as the case. (Super cheap also.) The keychain is a pun. It would really say, "Yo tuve fe, esperanza, y caridad." (I had faith, hope, and charity.) But it´s pronounced the same. I thought it was pretty clever.
3.) Me with a slipper that we found that looks like me. I thought it was cute.
4.) Me with my dinner! (Not really. It´s a thing of a word that I can´t spell, but it´s basically pork rinds. Really really GOOD pork rinds. (Hot oil. I had to be really careful.)
5.) Three generations! Me, mi mamá, and mi abuela! (My trainer and my trainer´s trainer.)
6.) Today! We went bowling as a Zone activity. :)
7.) Also today. All of the zone. (That decided to attend. We´re missing at least two elders and four hermanas.)

That´s all for today! I have to go now! LES QUIERO MUCHO!!!!!!!!

So Sorry!

This is Hermana Beaumont's mom. I'm so sorry that I don't keep up with this as I should. I will try to do better in the future!

02/24/14

Hello, hello, hello, everyone! Once again, not much time, and I forgot to write out everything beforehand, so here we go.

Parts of this past week were better, parts were worse. On the bright side, I have more pictures! (attached)

Parts that were better: This past week was a little more relaxed.
Parts that were worse: Once again, I am in charge this week.

I´m really not sure what else to say to you guys... I´m still alive, we eat enough food, (See attached picture) Hna. Maldonado and I get along swimmingly, and we´re hoping to have my first baptism in the following week. (Not this week, next week.) But I´ll keep you posted.

Pic 1: The District. (All of the elders ran to their seats and Elder Peña fell. Mine was the only camera that captured the moment.)
Pic 2: We were doing language study, and Hna. Maldonado was practicing her English. This was the result.
Pic 3: At Sunset, waiting for a member to arrive.
Pic 4: With Hna. Maldonado; black and white
Pic 5: Not sure how to explain this one...
Pics 6 & 7: SELFIES!
Pic 8: Just so you know that we get enough food... lol

I just hope they all send. :P

I have three weeks left with Hna. Maldonado, and I´m still trying not to freak out. SO KEEP PRAYING FOR ME!!!!! I REALLY NEED AS MANY PRAYERS AS I CAN GET.

LES QUIERO MUCHO!!!!!!!

02/17/14

Okay everyone! I don´t have a lot of time! So I´m going to give you a quick bit of info about my week.

1. Valentine´s day. The day before, the ward had a Valentine´s dance. We were there, but only because we had our Missionary Coordination meeting thing. I don´t know what it´s called in English, but in Spanish it´s the "Junta de Coordinación Misional". AND THE MUSIC WAS TORTURE. Hna. Maldonado and I were almost crying. (Not really) They kept playing songs from Latin Dance and I was very sad and reminiscent. And the Elders kept teasing us. -_- Lovely, right?
2. Yesterday, I have officially been in Mexico for 2 MONTHS!!!! :O ¿WHAT?
3. I only have 3 weeks left with Hna. Maldonado! Where did the time go!?
4. Sometimes, I am okay with the amount of Spanish that I know, but sometimes (like yesterday) it frustrates me that I can´t express myself the way that I want to! UGH.
5. Time to inform you of my weaknesses. Yes, I can hold decent conversations with the members and investigators, but when it comes time to teach, I CAN´T DO IT. Its super awkward, and I´m always nervous, so I laugh super awkwardly and take forever to get to the point and that´s not what representatives of Jesus Christ do and so I´m really super worried about when Hna. Maldonado leaves me with someone different and I can´t help with the lessons and I´m too afraid to contact people and I´m super stressed because Hna. Maldonado told me that I´m going to be in control of EVERYTHING this week and I feel like I´m going to explode from the stress. That was a really long run-on sentence. Oh well. Also, I literally have no confidence in my teaching abilities. I literally just awkwardly say things. There´s no teaching.
6. In the computer place that I am at currently, they are playing very explicit music and it´s making me feel even worse. Lovely.
7. On the bright side: SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE WEEK! Mosiah 24. READ IT. LOVE IT. LIVE IT. (Not really.) But it´s all about how the people of Alma were in bondage and how they prayed for relief and that the Lord gave it to them. It´s really good and I love it. :) READ IT. (Maybe I should read it again.)

Sorry guys. The only picture that I have this week is of flan. THEY HAVE FLAN IN LITTLE CUPS LIKE PUDDING OR JELLO. It made my day. (It´s not super great, but I like it.)

I LOVE YOU ALL AND I APOLOGIZE FOR LAYING OUT MY GIANT PROBLEM IN FRONT OF YOU ALL BUT I NEEDED TO TELL SOMEONE AND I REALLY NEED YOUR PRAYERS. THANKS

♥Hermana Beaumont

2/10/14

OKAY EVERYONE! This week, I made a list of things that I wanted to say to you so that I wouldn´t run out of things to say! WOOHOO!

Tomorrow, someone special is coming to talk to the whole mission... THE SECOND COUNSELOR OF THE PRESIDING BISHOPRIC, DEAN M. DAVIES. AAAAAND... I´m going to be singing! WOOHOO! (In a group, but it´s still pretty cool.) And then later there´s going to be an Easter Concert that I will be singing in too. :)

Something that I have been meaning to talk about, is a family in the ward. The Hermano is from... Japan. Like, legit. His first language is Japanese and he also speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese. His wife is from Mexico. And they have the most adorable kids on the planet. Not just that, but we´re going to be visiting his mother some. She basically only speaks Japanese and a little bit of English. It´s going to be interesting.

Basically every week now, I am asked to sing. And the most time I have recieved in advance, is three days. Yeah.

We are currently teaching a couple that is basically GOLDEN. They both want to be baptized and the only thing they have to do is get married! (It´s set for the 28th.) Pretty awesome.

Here is a list of Mexican food that I wish my family to learn to make before I get back: Pozole, Caldo, Enchiladas (real ones), and Tostadas.

Here there is this thing called "Sobreruedas". (Not sure if it´s one or two words) But it´s basically a Mexican flea market. I bought a blazer (which, who knew? is required for conferences and stuff) for 15 pesos! That´s a little more than a dollar! WOOHOO!

I was mauled by a cat. Don´t worry, I cleaned it really well. It shouldn´t get infected. (Picture to come)

Yesterday, Presidente Carreón came to our ward! Big surprise! But he told me that my Spanish is "excelente" and so I feel super awesome right now. He also said that my accent is also "excelente". :3 I´m pretty special guys.

One of our investigators doesn´t speak Spanish as a first language... He speaks a dialect called, "Purepeche" (I´m not sure if that´s how it´s spelled.) But it´s really difficult sometimes because he doesn´t always understand us. :P

MEXICAN CANDY: I have crossed over! There is a sucker called "Vero Elotes" that I tried once in high school that I thought was the nastiest thing on the planet. I ate one yesterday. All of it. AND I ENJOYED IT. (It´s basically a strawberry flavored sucker coated in chile powder.) I HAVE CROSSED OVER. When I go home, I´M GONNA BE MEXICAN. bahaha Not really, but yes, really.

Oh, and there´s a family in the ward that wants to set me up with their son that´s serving his mission in Mexico City.... Bahahaha no.

Okay, for this week´s spiritual part, I would like to bear my testimony on the Restoration. My testimony of the Restoration has grown DRAMATICALLY since I have been on my mission. I just want to share that I KNOW that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that he saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and that by the power of God, he was able to translate the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God´s true church. I know that the priesthood is the power that God has given to man to act in His name.

Now, for the last part of my e-mail before the pictures.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WORK WITH THE MISSIONARIES IN YOUR WARDS. SHARE THE GOSPEL WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND EVERYONE. GIVE REFERENCES TO THE MISSIONARIES, AND THEN GO WITH THEM TO THE APPOINTMENTS TO SEE THESE PEOPLE! PLEASE. The people in our ward hardly work with us! Yes, they give us food, but they don´t help with the Work! Our job is to teach lessons and give service. The missionaries are there to help you! We hear all the time, "Let´s do all we can to help the missionaries!" NO. We are in your wards to help YOU! Every person with a testimony should be sharing it with everyone they meet! I just wish that I had been better before my mission!

LES QUIERO MUCHO!
